Framer to Webflow migration: when it is worth it
When the CMS becomes the site. A blog, case studies, team, locations and integrations pages, all linked to each other: Webflow's collections and reference fields are built for content that is structured and connected.
When several people edit. Marketing writes, a designer adjusts, a developer adds code, and each needs the right level of access. Webflow's Editor lets content people change text and items without touching the layout.
When you want a wider bench. Webflow has a large pool of agencies and developers who share conventions such as Client-First, so the next person can pick up the project without decoding it.
If none of these apply, stay. A fast Framer site that does its job is better than a migration nobody needed. The comparison itself is in Webflow vs Framer.
What carries over and what is rebuilt
The design carries over as a reference, not as a file. Framer layouts are rebuilt in Webflow section by section, which is also the moment to fix spacing and breakpoints that were improvised.
Content carries over as data. CMS items are exported and imported into Webflow collections designed for them, and long content is checked for formatting after import.
Animations are rebuilt with Webflow Interactions or GSAP. Most Framer effects have a direct equivalent; the few that do not are replaced with something lighter that still does the job.
Keeping your rankings
Crawl the live Framer site first and list every URL that returns a page. Keep the addresses that rank, and redirect every one that changes to its closest new page, never to the homepage.
Carry over titles, descriptions and image alt text, set the redirects in Webflow before the domain switches, then resubmit the sitemap and watch coverage for a few weeks. The full checklist is in moving without losing rankings.
How long it takes
A marketing site of up to a dozen pages usually moves in two to three weeks, because the design decisions are already made. What extends it is a large CMS, a second language or a redesign done at the same time.
If the move is also a redesign, price the two separately so you can see what each costs. What a migration costs explains why.
Motion that survives the move
Chaiflow is one continuous scroll story with scroll-driven motion, built in Webflow and live in three weeks.
That is the usual worry about leaving Framer: losing the feel. In practice the feel comes from the design decisions and the timing, and both rebuild cleanly in Webflow.
Questions we get asked
How do I migrate from Framer to Webflow?
List every live URL, rebuild the layouts in Webflow using the Framer site as the reference, import CMS content into collections designed for it, rebuild animations with Webflow Interactions or GSAP, and set redirects for every changed URL before switching the domain.
Will I lose SEO moving from Framer to Webflow?
Not if you keep or redirect every URL and carry over titles, descriptions and alt text. Expect a short unsettled period while Google recrawls the site.
Is Webflow better than Framer?
For fast, design-led sites with light content, Framer is often enough. Webflow is the stronger choice when the CMS grows, several people edit, or you want a large pool of developers who can maintain the site.
How long does a Framer to Webflow migration take?
About two to three weeks for a marketing site of up to a dozen pages. A large CMS, a second language or a simultaneous redesign add time.
